2022 started of extremely positive, after enjoying our first ‘normal’ Christmas in 2 years we came back to work feeling refreshed and ready to face what we didn’t know would be a very important year in world history.
The head office teams have continued to operate flexible remote working, enjoying coming together in the office every Wednesday. We have noticed a positive lift in company culture and feel since reintroducing regular office working, bringing back the informal chat and office banter which we all missed too much.
Our teams both in the office and on the road have continued to grow, we have welcomed many new recruits with open arms during the last 12 months who have jumped straight into their roles and the company culture. We have also celebrated a number of new houses, babies and engagements!
Published on: December 3, 2022Whilst the year has been filled with many historic moments, we are pleased to share some of our favourite projects from 2022, within both the highways and rail sectors. Our relationships with our steadfast suppliers and clients have continued to grow.
January started the year off with a bang, with our schedule being filled weeks in advance. We were excited to see this continue throughout the year, especially into the Summer with the weather looking promising. Summer was one of the hottest on record, our schedule was not, there was a dramatic ‘lull’ in orders being processed. We believe this may have been due to COVID holiday being used. As soon as Autumn was with us, we saw a dramatic increase with orders and enquiries, we now look forward to a busy end of the year and into next!
There has been an interesting variety of enquiries this year; these range from large structure refurbishments, arch restoration projects, and industrial cleaning on various substrates. There are five particularly exciting projects we would like to share with you:
We have been working with Ringway Hertfordshire for a number of years, transforming various subways throughout the county. This year our partnership continued where we refurbished 13 subways, installing various bespoke, themed murals, many contributing to our social value projects. Some of our favourites include; Vicarage Road subway with a Watford FC and Elton John theme and Elstree Way underpass with an EastEnders, Star Wars and Indiana Jones themed mural. It has been so exciting being a part of these fantastic, creative projects and we look forward to continuing this into 2023. In the lead up to the Commonwealth Games, we were proudly able to do our bit in getting the city of Birmingham ready for the big event. Our ICATS teams operated during a designated road closure where they transformed Lancaster Way Underpass, installing a bright, bespoke mural. This is a key route into the city centre, and it clearly displayed the colours of the Commonwealth. This was an extremely special project to have been a part of and we enjoyed watching the transformation.
Our ICATS teams took on one of our largest projects to date this year in the beautiful town of Brockweir. The team scaled Brockweir Bridge and carried out our structure refurbishment and industrial coating services. This project involved some challenges including ensuring all of the works were heritage approved due to the structure’s listed status, working above water during a temperamental weather season and rising water levels. The team worked so hard to complete this project to the highest standard and we had one very happy client at the end of it.
In November 2022, we were successfully awarded the heritage refurbishment works for the grade II listed façade at Olympia Way. Our teams are DOFF cleaning the external retained facade, removing all the paint. We are extremely proud to be working with Laing O’Rouke, (a new client to us) on this huge scheme, and look forward to sharing the finished results with you.
