As part of the National Stations Improvement Programme (NSIP), Osborne was already working alongside Network Rail to improve London Victoria station.
Both the brickwork and ornate Portland stone arches of the ticket hall façades had become grey and blackened from years of dust and pollution.
Already aware of our heritage approved cleaning methods and expertise in surface restoration, Osborne requested our services to deep clean, restore and repaint the façades.
Covering a total area of 3,330m2 of varying surface types, our team got straight to work on deep cleaning the red brick elevation façades first.
Working within strict engineering hours of this busy terminus, the Aquila TD352 steam cleaner was selected as the most suitable machinery for this project. The high heat of this system is perfect for deep cleaning the heritage stone and the enclosed head vacuums the spent dirty water to ensure the station retailers are not affected with flooding.
Over the years the Portland stone arches had been repainted at different times resulting in them all varying in colour. Our ICATS trained team prepared and repainted all arches to one uniform colour as well as the window ledges and arches overhead.
Additionally our team also tidied up and removed many of the old and redundant metal brackets, cables and conduits.
Working closely with Osborne Site Supervisor Matt Pert, the 12 week project completed on time and to budget with an outstanding result echoed by the end client.
