Heritage restoration

Utilising the right cleaning and restoration methods is crucially important especially when it comes to heritage infrastructure.

CC Infrastructure Services have been involved in a number of heritage cleaning projects over the last 15 years, including building facade cleaning, graffiti removal, structure painting and brickwork restoration.

There are several factors to consider when working alongside heritage infrastructures such as; the type of surface you are restoring, surrounding conditions and age.

Our specialised and approved heritage services include:

DOFF system

This is a sympathetic heritage recognised cleaning system, which utilises no chemicals or biocides to achieve the best results possible. The superheated water vapor will remove paint, moss, algae, fungi and other biological matter and will also kill off spores. The DOFF System can be used on all substrates, from facades to statues. More information on our DOFF System can be found HERE…

Micro-stripping

There are various methods of micro-stripping which have been approved on heritage projects. We have been involved in many structures and brickwork restoration projects over the years, both internal and external.

Our largest project to date is our work at London Bridge Station where we microstrip cleaned over 40,000m2 of brickwork, including the London Dungeons. We carried out various dust suppression methods such as water shielding and vacuum blasting.

Once cleaned we applied various, protective treatments to preserve the arches for years to come.

Vacuum recovery systems

Vacuum recovery is a very tidy and environmentally friendly method of brick restoration and one of our favourite methods. It recovers and recycles the materials that have been used to restore the brickwork. Meaning very little waste and dust/dirt is produced. We utilised a vacuum recovery system when transforming the internal brickwork surfaces at Hays Galleria, a grade II listed building,  check out our case study HERE…

Hand preparation

Our teams utilise hand preparation tools to ensure that the surface is prepared to a heritage approved St3 standard. This ensures no damage is done to the existing surface. An example of when our teams utilised this method of preparation was at Brewery Bridge, you can check out our case study HERE…

Protective systems

Protective treatments are becoming increasingly popular, both internally and externally when restoring pieces of infrastructure. They have an abundance of advantages including dust-sealant technology and increasing the life expectancy of the treated surface.  An example of this service can be found HERE…

Protective paint systems

Regularly utilised on structures within both the rail and highways industries. The paint systems not only transform the structures visually but also come with a host of other advantages including protecting the surface from everyday wear and tear, graffiti, dirt and grime. They come in a large variety of colours to meet your requirements for the structure and have a life expectancy of up to 60 years. An example of this service can be found HERE…

Anti-graffiti coatings

Have a life expectancy of up to 30 years and protect the surface from graffiti tags as well as general dirt and grime. There are a variety of different coatings, some which are heritage recognised. For example, non-permanent, sacrificial coatings which do not impregnate or affect the surface in any way, meaning they are able to be removed professionally if required and meet heritage and listed building standards.  An example of this service can be found HERE…
